How often should you change your cat's litter?
Cats can be very particular about their litter, and most wanted to be clean before they use it. Depending on the type of litter you use, you may have to change it as frequently as twice a week or even every other day. For most litter, this helps keep the litter box clean and smells at bay.
With Kitty Poo Club, you don't have to worry about changing your litter frequently. You only have to change it once a month when you change your whole litter box. Just scoop the poop out daily and mix the litter around in the litter box.
Most of the urine is water, and the water evaporates out of the litter. The urine odor is then trapped in the particles of our litter.
Each month you get a new litter box and supply of litter. Order one box per cat, and you'll be set for the month.
Can your cat get sick from a dirty litter box?
Diseases can be transmitted by a dirty litter box. And not just for your kitty, but for you too. Toxoplasmosis is a disease that can be transmitted through infected animal feces, and if one of your cats gets it, you don't want them sharing it with the others.
Also, if your kitty's litter box is dirty, they often won't use it. This can lead to urinary tract infections or your kitty urinating outside of the litter box. This is a major cause of behavioral problems and kitties needing to be rehomed, so don't' let it happen to yours.
If the litter is dirty, your cat can also get skin infections from contact with the urine building up in the litter. Dirty litter can lead to respiratory irritations from the build-up of urine if your kitty continues to use the litter box, too.
Are cat paws dirty?
With all this going in and out of the litter box, you might wonder how clean your cat's paws are, especially if she's walking around on your countertops or furniture. If her litter box is dirty, her paws are more likely to be dirty.
That said, cats tend to be meticulous groomers and often keep their paws clean. You can help your cat by making sure that her litter box is clean. Use our eco-friendly monthly subscription box for cats to keep your house clean and your cat happy.
Our litter box is also designed with your cat's comfort in mind. It has an easy lip that even older cats can climb into it with ease, and it is open so your cat won't feel trapped in a covered box.
